The Emergency Meal Card application will close on Monday, December 11th at 12:00 PM. Please note, CityEats will be closed for the winter break after dinner service on 12/15 to 1/27. Please continue to check our website for updates regarding the Emergency Meal Card Application for Spring 2024.
This community meal-sharing program helps elevate student food security by providing free meals at City Eats Dining Hall to SF State students facing barriers accessing enough food.
This program is intended to support students experiencing an emergency food crisis with no access to food or funds to pay for food. This program is not intended to be a long-term solution to food security or a supplement for a meal plan. The emergency meal card is a one-time resource for students.
Please check out the updated information below about these resources, as they have changed this semester.
*Please note, we are no longer doing walk-ins for Emergency Meal Cards*
- The Emergency Meal Card Program is a partnership with Sodexo, who donates 2000 meals to FSS every semester so that we can provide these meal cards.
- Meal cards are reserved for students who currently do not have access to food. This program is not intended to be a supplement for a meal card or students who need to find ways to cut the cost of purchasing food. This is for emergency situations.
Students can receive one card per semester. If a student needs additional cards, they will need to meet with an FSS Staff member via the Request Form to discuss longer-term solutions for food security. This may or may not include a second card.
Meal cards hold 10 meals and can only be used at City Eats on campus.
*Please note, we are no longer taking walk-in applications. Students are also only able to complete the Emergency Meal Card Application once. Turnaround time for a response is 24 to 48 business hours.*
Steps for 1st Emergency Meal Cards of the semester:

Step 2- Wait for an email response from the FSS Team letting you know the status of your application.
