Gator Grub Alert

Gator Grub Alert is suspended until further notice.

Gator Grub Alert is a function of the SF State mobile app where students can sign up to be notified when there is free food on campus.

Gator Grub Alert allows Staff & Faculty to post excess catered food after their events allowing students to get a free meal.

 

  1. Download the San Francisco State mobile app
  2. Turn on push notifications
  3. Go to the "What to Eat" tile
  4. Click on "Gator Grub Alert"
  5. Read the liability waiver and continue to opt-in
  6. Hit the green opt-in button
  7. You are now ready to receive free food alerts!
  1. Find out where the food is and what type food is available by clicking the push notification
  2. Grab any other San Francisco State students that you are with and head to the location of the food
  3. Pick up the food and enjoy! 

Tips:

  • Arrive ASAP, food goes fast
  • Bring a to-go container if you have one
  • Thank your host

To post to Gator Grub Alert, you must attend a Gator Grub Alert training. You can be trained by:

  1. Scheduling a Gator Grub Alert training for your staff (5 or more), please email basicneeds@sfsu.edu
  2. Attend a Gator Grub Alert Lunch & Learn.

To post your excess catered food log in to Modo here

Posting Reminders:

  • Food can be available for 30 minutes
  • If food goes fast, create a second post to let students know the food is gone
  • Welcome students and direct them to the food
  • Follow all Food Safety guidelines
